Spread The Word: Peanut, The Music Bus Came Out Of Its Shell

I have always associated bus rides with music. From sharing headphones with my friends during the ride to school, checking out new songs, to those long commutes to gigs. Nothing beats a soundtrack to accompany the views out the bus window.

It only makes sense that here at Round Rock Music School we have transitioned from listening to music, to making music of our own aboard Peanut: the Music Bus. Yes, the Music Bus is exactly what it sounds like. A cool retro shuttle bus tricked out with instruments, speakers, and flashing lights.

Why the nickname Peanut you ask? Well, this bus is Round Rock Music School, in a nutshell. Funky, always moving forward, filled with smiles, and brimming with the sounds of beautiful music.

This transporter of tone is 29 feet of solid sonic bliss. It is kitted out with keyboards, amps for guitars/vocals, and enough room for a drumkit to ride in the caboose. Formerly owned and operated by a kids camp used to shuttle campers to the lake for the summer, Peanut is still fulfilling its original purpose of connecting kids with a busload of fun.

Our students love the idea and atmosphere the Music Bus provides. Like many standout musical spaces before such as Sun Records, which hosted the likes of Elvis and Johnny Cash, the Music Bus offers a unique and undeniably creative jam space. The intimate aesthetic and overall smooth ambient acoustics in the bus open up a creative channel for all aboard.

Trust us that the best way to manifest a successful career as a musician is to get comfortable with being on a bus. The tour bus life is essential once you start landing big gigs. So to be able to say you first learned on a bus is the complete full-circle story that article writers at Rolling Stone magazine love to hear. That may be the destination for anyone with musical aspirations, but the journey begins on Round Rock’s Music Bus.

What’s white, red, and hard to miss? Your wine collection. A close second is the RR Music Bus when cruising around town. If you see us out for a drive take it as a sign to stop by the school and check it out for yourself.

At Round Rock Music School Everyday Feels Like Taco Tuesday

🎸 Guac and Roll 🌮

Our first live performance recital since December 2019, now that’s something to Taco’bout. One by one our students took the stage at Torchy’s Tacos after a long two-year hiatus of performing live. The all-around smiles and expressions of anticipation as they patiently waited for their moment in the spotlight were only overshadowed by the amazing performances that were carefully cultivated for their friends and family to enjoy.

With a sign that reads “Be Safe Y’all” between performers and a stage that is literally made of rock,(you are what you play on) the students at Round Rock Music did not disappoint and couldn’t have been more ready to showcase their skills. Or was it the enticing smell of Torchy’s kitchen that had them chomping at the bit to enjoy a post-recital reward from their famous Mexican fare? Mole and Music is there a better combo?

From woodwinds, brass, strings, vocals, and keys, all walks of musical life are represented with just as much variety as you'd expect from Round Rock. These students never cease to impress us day in and day out on how far they have all come. The versatility they have shown and continue to reinforce through their spirited and bang-on stage performances is a testament that our community of musicians remained intact during a time that had impacted so many.

Having front row seats to this recital was very special, but what has always been the main point of pride for Round Rock Music School is watching our students learn and grow into their full musicality potential. Each and every one of our Round Rockers gave it their all and truly made us proud to be showing them the love of music that each of our teachers has ingrained into their daily lives.

Whether it’s signing up for our classes like Rock Band or Power Piano, the group music lessons that we offer not only allow the students to learn the technical aspects of their instruments, but it creates long-lasting friendships and further develops their social skills learning in a group setting. Don’t be a stranger and come on down for a tour of our school, or even take a peek at Texas’ very first Music Bus. I would say we stop at nothing to ensure we are delivering the best group music lessons in Texas, but as we know a bus stops a lot. Don’t miss out and get on board today.

Round Rock Music fall activities recap

What’s Happening at Round Rock (Apart from Amazing Music Lessons!)

At Round Rock Music School, we are always out and about in the community between music lessons. In fact, with our music bus, we even bring the piano and other music lessons to the community! Fall is an excellent time for us, and we love seeing Round Rock and Pflugerville community members at events.

Trunk or Treat!

October is always a fun time of the year, and 2021 was no different. We took our music bus out to several trunk or treat celebrations in the community. In addition to passing out candy to over 3,000 children, it was also an opportunity for people to see how we can offer guitar, drum, and piano classes wherever they are.

Music Lessons at a Emerson Academy Child Development Center

We also took our music bus to Emerson Academy child development center, which was a great event. We love seeing children experience making music, as every child had a smile on their face. Our music bus added to the fun atmosphere of our visit.

We also know that fun is not the only benefit of music. Our visit also provided scientifically proven help towards their development goals. Music fosters fantastic brain connectivity, and playing music is the most impactful option.

Preparations for Winter Music Recital

Our students in ukulele, rock band, and piano classes are also preparing for the winter recital. Our staff loves seeing our students take what they learn in lessons like piano class to put on this recital every year. It is the highlight of our season, and we love seeing how the kids enjoy performing.

If you would like to join us for the winter recital, it is on December 3rd and 4th. If you are unable to attend, we do record the winter recital for later access.
