You want to play drums? Awesome, we love drums!
Drums are a physical instrument and challenges your concentration and focus. Great drummers are great listeners. This means listening to your band, metronome, or your teacher :) We have drum students beginning as young as 5 year old. The most successful students are not always the most energetic, but the students that are able to know when to play, but also when to stop and listen. Our drum instructors have many years experience working with all ages and abilities and can ensure that you are getting to that "next level".
David Brady is an accomplished musician with more than 40 years of professional performance and teaching experience. Born and raised in Los Angeles, Dave has studied music at U.C.L.A., L.A. City College, Santa Rosa J.C., and Sonoma State University, and privately with Bill Douglass on drums and Bobby Hutcherson on vibes.
He is a drummer, vibraphonist, pianist, arranger, and a published author of 3 instructional drum books, STEPS AHEAD PART 1, STEPS AHEAD PART 2, AND BAG OF TRICKS. Growing up, his father Owen Brady, a guest conductor of the Los Angeles Philharmonic Orchestra, would play the household Steinway piano daily. Notably, Owen played the organ in the film “The Godfather” during the baptism scene. Cello was Dave’s first instrument, followed by piano, then drums. Along with playing 3 nights a week in Florida at a club, Dave’s passion is centered around the vibraphone, the zylorimba, and recording some of his favorite tunes as well as originals. Laying down individual tracks with individual instruments and layering tracks over each other, Dave has found an uncanny freedom of expression in both composition, arranging, and soloing. Through the 5 CDS currently available, Dave shares his inspirational experience. “It’s like painting a picture, painting till it’s done!”
