Spread The Word: Peanut, The Music Bus Came Out Of Its Shell

I have always associated bus rides with music. From sharing headphones with my friends during the ride to school, checking out new songs, to those long commutes to gigs. Nothing beats a soundtrack to accompany the views out the bus window.

It only makes sense that here at Round Rock Music School we have transitioned from listening to music, to making music of our own aboard Peanut: the Music Bus. Yes, the Music Bus is exactly what it sounds like. A cool retro shuttle bus tricked out with instruments, speakers, and flashing lights.

Why the nickname Peanut you ask? Well, this bus is Round Rock Music School, in a nutshell. Funky, always moving forward, filled with smiles, and brimming with the sounds of beautiful music.

This transporter of tone is 29 feet of solid sonic bliss. It is kitted out with keyboards, amps for guitars/vocals, and enough room for a drumkit to ride in the caboose. Formerly owned and operated by a kids camp used to shuttle campers to the lake for the summer, Peanut is still fulfilling its original purpose of connecting kids with a busload of fun.

Our students love the idea and atmosphere the Music Bus provides. Like many standout musical spaces before such as Sun Records, which hosted the likes of Elvis and Johnny Cash, the Music Bus offers a unique and undeniably creative jam space. The intimate aesthetic and overall smooth ambient acoustics in the bus open up a creative channel for all aboard.

Trust us that the best way to manifest a successful career as a musician is to get comfortable with being on a bus. The tour bus life is essential once you start landing big gigs. So to be able to say you first learned on a bus is the complete full-circle story that article writers at Rolling Stone magazine love to hear. That may be the destination for anyone with musical aspirations, but the journey begins on Round Rock’s Music Bus.

What’s white, red, and hard to miss? Your wine collection. A close second is the RR Music Bus when cruising around town. If you see us out for a drive take it as a sign to stop by the school and check it out for yourself.
